Cuckoo's Nest - the Gypsy Jazz Quintet

Cuckoo's Nest is a quintet of Humboldt County Musicians dedicated to the memory of Django Reinhardt of the Hot Club of France. Rather than following in imitative footsteps of other Django bands, Cuckoo's Nest has achieved its own unique and original jazz sound by the thought-provoking combo of two violins, two guitars, and bass, adding an innovative twist to the original Hot Club experiment.

This quintet, consisting of Rob Diggins and Jolianne von Einem on violin, Dave Wilson and Jim Adams on guitar, and Tami Pallingston on string bass delivers a spunky originality that reflects the collective experiences of the five from their performances of classical music, bluegrass excursions, punk rock attitudes and rhythm and blues. Whether it be original Hot Club tunes, Coltrane-inspired avant-garde, or genuine Hungarian gypsy folk tunes, the band swings hard!
